چکیده

This study was performed to investigate the relationship between polymorphisms in microsomal epoxide hydrolase (mEH; Tyr113His and His139Arg substitution) glutathione S-transferase (GST; GSTM1 deletion, GSTT1 GSTP1.Ala114Val their correlation with clinico-histopathological features hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).We evaluated environmental risk factors genetic alterations 556 individuals (86 cases 470 controls). PCR multiplex for GSTT1, polymerase chain reaction restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) GSTP1, real-time mEH were performed. Statistical analyses using multiple logistic regression tests.Age over 48 years (p < 0.001) alcohol consumption = 0.021) predictors of increased developing HCC. all models 0.05), except recessive model, null genotype (odds ratio [OR] 0.43, 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.21–0.87, p 0.019) an Polymorphic GSTM1, GSTP1.Ala114Val, mEH.His139Arg wild-type mEH.Tyr113His (OR 5.04; CI 1.59–16.04; 0.006) associated HCC.Age years, consumption, presence polymorphic variants GSTP1

Cardiovascular risk factors in patients with psoriasis: A casecontrol study

Recent studies suggest that psoriasis may be an independent risk factor for the development of cardiovascular diseases. Myocardial infarction, pulmonary embolism, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, and dyslipidemia have been reported in patients with psoriasis Certain risk factors for cardiovascular diseases may be more prevalent among patients with psoriasis 3,4. The aim of this study was to defi...

Polymorphisms of folate metabolism genes in patients with cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma

AIM To evaluated the association of the risk factors and polymorphisms in MTHFR C677T, MTHFR A1298C, MTR A2756G and MTRR A66G genes. METHODS Patients with cirrhosis (n = 116), hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) (n = 71) and controls (n = 356) were included. Polymerase chain reaction followed by enzymatic digestion and allelic discrimination technique real-time PCR techniques were used for analysi...

Hepatocellular carcinoma in a sheep

At necropsy of a five-year-old sheep, a pear shaped, lobular yellow-brownish mass measuring about 12 ×15 × 20 cm was found to involve the right hepatic lobe. Microscopic examination revealed two trabecularand solid patterns of neoplastic hepatocytes. In solid pattern, there were numerous tumoral giant cells thatcontain one or more large hyperchromatic bizarre-shaped nuclei scattered among clust...

A case-control study of polymorphisms in xenobiotic and arsenic metabolism genes and arsenic-related bladder cancer in New Hampshire.

Arsenic is associated with bladder cancer risk even at low exposure levels. Genetic variation in enzymes involved in xenobiotic and arsenic metabolism may modulate individual susceptibility to arsenic-related bladder cancer. Through a population-based case-control study in NH (832 cases and 1191 controls), we investigated gene-environment interactions between arsenic metabolic gene polymorphism...

Association of Candidate Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms Related to Candidate Genes in Patients With Schizophrenia

Introduction: Schizophrenia is a chronic heterogenic neurodevelopment disorder. Many genes interfere in the development of SCZ. All four genes, NrCAM, PRODH, ANK3, and ANKK1, which were evaluated in this study, were previously reported to be associated with Schizophrenia. The NrCAM contributes to creating cognitive deficiencies through the CAM’s signaling pathway. PRODH plays a vital role in cr...
